Serial Killer Theodore Robert Bundy Essay - 1560 Words

Theodore Bundy was an infamous American serial killer who preyed upon numerous young women during the 1970s and possibly earlier. He was associated with at least 30 counts of homicide and suspected of an estimated one hundred or more. Beyond homicide, he also made it apparent that he was capable of other sinister crimes such as rape, kidnapping, and necrophilia. His most frequent method of killing was an attack with a blunt weapon to the head. However, he did not merely kill his victims; evidence concludes that each were also sexually assaulted and sodomized. It is reported that he even revisited his crime scenes to further engage in sexual acts with the decomposing corpses. Moreover, at least 12 of his victims had been decapitated .†¦show more content†¦Shortly after, Johnny formally adopted her son which led to the acquisition of his now notorious last name: Bundy. His mother and stepfather eventually had 4 children together, presenting Bundy with an opportunity to experie nce a normal childhood. However, this did not come to fruition. Despite Johnny’s attempts to bond with Ted, such as camping trips, Ted was emotionally detached from him. He exhibited extreme shyness, preferring to spend most of his time alone. He was uncomfortable and self-doubting in social situations. This likely led to his social awkwardness, which in turn led to Ted being frequently teased and bullied. However, while he somewhat failed socially, he excelled academically, managing to maintain a high GPA. In his high school years, Ted became more socially aware and comfortable, and as a result his popularity grew. It was said he was â€Å"well dressed and exceptionally well mannered.† Yet, he seldom dated; he was more interested in extra-curricular activities, particularly politics. Ted Bundy attended college at the University of Puget Sound and the University of Washington. During this time, he took on various low-level jobs, such as being a busboy and a shoe clerk. Generally, he did not stay in one position for very long, which caused employers to view him as unreliable. He was always very focused on his studies and grades.
